By far the most common condition we see in clinic is neck & shoulder pain.
And the most common cause is related to daily mouse use.
Although it seems an innoxious activity, the backwards and forwards movement of using a mouse for a few hours every day will cause the shoulder muscle to tighten.
What style of mouse do you use?

A normal flat mouse?
Or an ergonomic verticle mouse?

With a flat mouse your elbow tends to move away from the body, the top of your arm rotates forward tightnening your pec and shoulder muscles.
Doing this motion repetitively every day leads to tight & tense shoulder muscles causesing pain & stiffness and often headaches & migraines.

When you use an ergonomic verticle mouse your hand is in the 'handshake' position.
Your elbow will stay closer in to you or body.
Your shoulder will not rotate.
Your pec and shoulder muscles are less likely to get tight, painful and sore.
Also with your arm in the handshake position, there is less strain on your forearm muscles and so reduced likelihood odf developing RSI.
If you have neck & shoulder tension and use a mouse a lot during the work day,
try swapping to an ergonomic veticle mouse and feel the difference.
